Firstly, let me explain what an engagement shoot is! Well it is actually very simple-it is a great opportunity to get to know your photographer and let him get to know you as individuals and as a couple. You will build a relationship with him and gain some confidence if you have never worked with a professional photographer before. It can feel quite awkward at first, but you will quickly get used to the big camera :) It is a good idea to get that feeling out of the way, so that on your wedding day, you already know how to work with your photographer and get the most out of that precious hour you have with your partner. Dont think that the E-shoot is only to get some nice photographs… Its a chance for you to spend some quality time with your fiancee and create some great memories, then when you look back in time, you will appreciate that you had a photographer with you that day. So here are few tips that should help you get the most out of your e-shoot!

You can shoot anywhere, it doesn’t have to just be a local park. Why not make the most of it and turn it into a trip to the seaside? Everyone loves to take photos at the beach! You could make a picnic there, have fun and be creative – there are no limits, no rules about how you should have your shoot done!

It works best to have something colourful but dont go over the top with that. Your outfits should look good together and compliment each other. Most importantly, you should feel good about what are you wearing and comfortable in it! E-shoot is fun but at the same time it should be a personal and intimate experience. Try to be yourself and show your real feelings towards each other,  the moment that you forget about the photographer is the moment you start ticking all the boxes on my list to having a great time! My best advice when I shoot couples is to ignore me and focus on each other, thanks to that I can take beautiful natural photographs, capturing real feelings which you can keep forever.

If you are one of those who actually like to be photographed, why not take it to the next level and think of bringing some cool props? Something that you gave each other, funky frames, colourful wellies, flowers, the possibilities are endless! Props can bring a lot of excitement to the shoot and make your photos really special. If you like that idea, try to bring something that expresses your relationship, something that puts a smile on your face…you can even bring your dog!

wedding-photographer-surrey-00003My last bit of advice is – why not think about booking a profesional make up artist and hair stylist? All girls love to get pampered and it really changes your self confidence during the shoot! Its not about putting on a ton of make up, it is about looking natural so you simply glow with beauty – your fiance will love that too! It’s your decision what look you want to go for, but it’s handy to have a few specialists in different areas to give you honest advice about what would work best.

I really hope you find those tips helpful and they get you excited about you engagement shoot. All the details make a big difference, the more effort you put into this the more you will get out if it! Buy some new clothes or jewellery (never enough of that on the shoot), it’s a great excuse to go shopping and treat yourself :) if you have any extra questions don’t be shy to drop me an email, I’m always up for a chat! Good luck with your e-shoot, lets make it amazing!
